Sprint Races 2

22nd February 2009
It was another great day for the Sprint Race series, 23 boats racing and a wind with variable strength and direction to keep the racing very interesting. A few boats had to double back in the opening race and helped the placing of some others.
Micah and Alex Wilkinson in their Phase 2 pushed the front of the Senior Centreboard fleet hard in the three morning races before the wind strengthened for the afternoon. Alex Kraayenhof in the Paper Tiger cut through the water well, but only when at it’s strongest. He could not keep up his string of first placings from the opening round of the series. Giane and Phil had the NS14 mixing with the top of the fleet.
Shaun Rumbles and Jaeden Buxton fought over the Junior fleet honours. Shaun won on a count back when both sailors were locked together on 27 points after the 11 races in the series.
Shane Buxton headed off David Chin in the Trailer Yacht fleet. Thanks to Evan for the race organisation, and to Owen and Trevor for taking the results. Ragina again created perfection on the BBQ, thank you.
There’s more fun next Sunday (29th Feb.) with the Mark Foye series starting. This reverse handicap series should see all boats crossing the finish line at almost the same time!
