Notice of Race
|
|
|
1.0 Rules
|
|
|
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 200-20012.
|
|
|
1.2 The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1, shall apply.
|
|
|
2.0 Changes to Racing Rules
|
|
|
The Racing Rules will be changed in accordance with rule 86 as follows:
|
|
|
2.1 For protests where only a Rule of Part 2 is alleged to have been broken an arbitration hearing will be offered prior to any formal hearing.
|
|
|
3.0 Eligibility and Entry
|
|
|
3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Phase 2 class.
|
|
|
3.2 Advance entries will be accepted until the normal closing date of 31 March 2009, by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a cheque of $70 (cheques made out to New Zealand Phase 2 Association) and mailing it to: New Zealand Phase 2 Association, 20 Pukeko Street, ROTORUA 3015.

3.3 Late entries after 31 March to be lodged in person at Registration (clause 4.1 below). Late entries accompanied by an additional late entry fee of $10 may be accepted at the Race Committee’s discretion until 1000 hours, Saturday 4th April 2009.
|
|
|
3.4 Measurement requirements are that during the contest a boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions.
|
|
|
3.5 To be eligible to compete in this event each entrant and crew member shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the entrant and crew member’s national authority.
|
|
|
4.0 Schedule of Events
|
|
|
4.1 Registration: Saturday, 4 April From 0830 To 0930 At Ngaroto Sailing Club
|
|
|
4.2 Briefing: Saturday, 4 April and Sunday 5 April commences at 1000 At Ngaroto Sailing Club
|
|
|
4.3 Racing Schedule:

A total of seven races are scheduled

5.0 Sailing Instructions
|
|
|
The Sailing Instructions will be available upon registration.
|
|
|
6.0 Racing Area
|
|
|
The races will be held on Lake Ngaroto.
|
|
|
7.0 Courses to be Sailed
|
|
|
The course(s) will be triangle, windward/leeward and/or windward/leeward.
|
|
|
8.0 Scoring
|
|
|
8.1 The Low-Points scoring system of Appendix A will apply.
|
|
|
8.2 5 races will be required to be completed to constitute a series.
|
|
|
8.3 No score will be excluded until 6 races have been completed [and a boat’s two worst scores will be excluded when 7 races have been completed]. |

|
9.0 Prizes
|
|
|
The following prizes will be awarded Masters Trophy, Youth Cup, Most Improved Trophy (handicap), National Phase 2 Championship Trophy.
|
|
|
10.0 Team Support Boats
|
|
|
10.1 Team support boats will be allowed but will stay clear of racing areas as designated by the Principal Race Officer.
|
|
|
10.2 Support boats must be registered with the Organising Authority at registration (clause 4.1 above). |

|
11.0 Disclaimer of Liability |
|
|
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

I understand that yacht racing has inherent risks and dangers that are beyond the control of the organizing authority. I understand that neither theorganising authority and its officers, members and servants nor other persons assisting with the conduct of the regatta accept any responsibility in respect of any injury or loss to person or property that may be sustained by reason of participation in the regatta or howsoever arising in connection with the regatta.

I agree to the Organising Authority and Yachting New Zealand holding the above information for the general administration and well-being of the sport, and for them to retain, use and disclose the information to affiliated organisations and any other persons or organisations that Yachting New Zealand believes will further the interests and objectives of Yachting New Zealand.
